Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents the concert, "Music & War."
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett, presents "Music & War," the second concert of the series "Tunes & Topics" on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Bemidji High School Auditorium. Doors open for seating at 2:30 pm.
Special guest artist Wesley Baldwin, cellist, will be featured on Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85. Dr. Baldwin performs throughout the United States and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician and is a Professor in the School of Music at the University of Tennessee where he received the Chancellor's Award for Professional Promise. As a member and principal cellist of the New World Symphony, Dr. Baldwin performs with many of the world's great conductors, and has toured Japan, Scotland, England, Argentina, and Brazil.
Also on the program are Wagner's Prelude to Act III of Tannhauser, Blades of Grass by Cascarino, and Beethoven's familiar Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67. Join Dr. Everett immediately after for a post-concert conversation.
As a tribute to Veteran's Day, all veterans of the United States Armed Forces are invited to attend the concert free of charge. Complementary tickets can be picked up at the Beltrami County Veterans' Service Office at 616 America Ave. NW, Suite 140, or at the door on the day of the concert.
Tickets for the concert are available at the door or in advance at Lueken's Village Foods North, Brigid's Pub, or online at brownpapertickets.com. Prices are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens 62+, and $10 for college students with ID. Students grades K12 are admitted free. All seats are general admission. Season tickets may be purchased at the door on the day of the concert for $60, or through the BSO website at www.bemidjisymphony.org/tickets or call 218/444-7914.
