Poldark Star Robin Ellis on Making Poldark and Making Great Food - In Conversation with Chris Jones, Chief Theater Critic for the Chicago Tribune
Bookends & Beginnings Bookstore invites you to an evening with actor Robin Ellis, who starred in the original 1970s Masterpiece Theater series Poldark as the brooding, irresistibly attractive Captain Ross Poldark and is the only actor from that cast who also appears in the current BBC remake (now playing Reverend Halse). His memoir, Making Poldark, focuses mainly on the making of the original series, but has just been updated with photos from the new one.

A lifelong passionate cook, Ellis was diagnosed in 1999 with Type 2 diabetes, which led to lifestyle and diet changes and resulted in his newest cookbook, Mediterranean Cooking for Diabetics--with recipes that will tempt anyone who loves to eat. He now lives in the South of France, where he leads cooking workshops and blogs about food. This event is a rare opportunity for Poldark fans to catch him in a U.S. appearance.

Ellis will be interviewed by the Chicago Tribune's chief theater critic, Chris Jones. Jones served as the touring theater critic for Variety and Daily Variety and spent 10 years teaching at Northern Illinois University, where he served as both an associate professor and as assistant chair of the School of Theatre and Dance. He also served as associate dean of DePaul University's Theatre School, where he continues to be an adjunct professor. A native of Manchester, England, Jones earned a doctorate from the Ohio State University in 1989. He lives in Evanston.

(NOTE: To increase capacity for his fans, this event will be held down the block from Bookends & Beginnings, at the Music Institute of Chicago's Puth Family Theater, 1702 Sherman Avenue, Evanston)
