Spring 2017 Sugarloaf California Naturalist Program
If you enjoy exploring and learning about our local ecology, engaging in citizen science, and sharing your knowledge with others, this program is for you!
The 40+ hour course combines a science curriculum with guest lecturers, field trips and project-based learning to explore the unique ecology and natural history of the Inner Coastal Range of Sonoma and Napa. Local guest experts will attend classroom sessions and field trips utilizing the outdoor learning environment of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.
Meeting Days & Times: Tuesday evenings with the exception of 2 Monday evenings (April 10 & May 8) from March 14-May 16, 6-8:30pm. Evening classes meet at the Robert Ferguson Observatory at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. There will be 5 Saturday field trips held on March 25, April 8, April 15, April 22, and May 6) at various locations circumferencing the Sonoma Valley including Sugarloaf, Jack London and Annadel State Parks. All fieldtrips are manadatory and run from 8:30am to 1:30 pm.
Fee: $425 registration Need-based scholarships available. Students must purchase The California Naturalist Handbook (2013, UC Press).
