Protosong presents: The Cellar Door with Edmund Wayne, plus special guests!
Protosong is bringing you an exclusive playlist of unreleased songs from Seattle artists, and here's the cool thing we'll let you pay what you want for it. Your giving provides clean water to people in developing nations and supports participating artists. Be one of the first to discover these new songs at Protosong.com, then share with your friends and support a worthy cause!
What better way to celebrate Protosong's Oct. 3-17 playlist release than with some live music from participating artists? We are stoked to announce that the Cellar Door and Edmund Wayne will be playing at the Q Cafe on Friday, October 5th. Not to mention some special guests you will not want to miss! Get your tickets now, there is limited space!
The Cellar Door:
You can't control or predict a particular combination of voices, and most can't explain what sets one group of three apart from another.
Sam Hoshin (20, vocals/accordion), Honnah Weber (21, vocals/piano), and Gabriel Much (20, vocals/guitar) met at Seattle Pacific University and began playing music together in the spring of 2011. With just one original song ("Spring") and a handful of covers, the three began performing. After a summer apart, they reconvened with Gabriel's brother Colin Much (17, drums), and new members Kristianna Anderson (19, cello/violin) and Zach Marsh (20, bass/banjo) under the moniker, The Cellar Door. Their sound, a mixture of indie folk and chamber pop, is centered on the lacing together of three complimentary voices. They sing of love, faith, travels, and expectations. These earnest themes combined with rich harmonies, create an easy wash, not always happy, but usually hopeful.
The rapid development of this group of six musicians, and ultimately, this group of six friends, is just the beginning of much more to come.
Edmund Wayne:
Some create music with sounds of the past close to heart, where others hug the cusp of the contemporary. Then there are those which blur the boundary in between. Edmund Wayne was born of a generation past. Two men one named Edmund, one named Wayne lent not only their names, but their lives to the creation of Curt Krause's musical moniker. Yet, the music created here sings of a time without time. The songs on his self-titled EP ranging from nostalgic acoustic ballads to cacophonous folk-rock collages tell of long-lost sons and the mistakes and regrets that make us human. Krause, formerly of the band Buffalo Death Beam, recorded the album with fellow Seattlites River Giant, a collaboration of his bittersweet folk tunes and their harmony-laden rock-and-roll. His live show, whether solo or with friends in tow, delivers a wild-eyed passion evident to even the casual observer, deeply felt by the keen.
