The S.O.S Open-Air Experience & Eco-Show showcase the Northwests environmental movement with hands-on learning, workshops, and seminars covering topics of sustainable construction, alternative energies, drought tolerant landscaping, organics, recycling, and renewable resources. For entertainment and inspiration, several artistic competitions, art installations and nearly 30 musical performances are highlighted for the long weekend. This event was primarily created to preserve a historic family farm, in turn working to preserve other small farms and environmentally conscious businesses making dramatic personal or global changes in the Northwest region. Because the host businesses, sponsors, and partners are directly involved in the local green movement, it creates a network and community for individuals and other businesses apprehensive about Earths environmental future. Each person has their own way of growing their personal green movement, but communicated knowledge promotes lifestyle awareness and change with a burly shove in the right direction. Said event coordinator and future fourth generation landowner, James Schierman.
The need for these programs is on a steady rise, especially here in the Inland Northwest, where most sustainable materials are practically underfoot, but back-of-mind. This area is also home to the most diverse and accommodating climates and accepting communities for experimental green homes and lifestyles. Especially in the small farming communities, with a natural abundance of straw, and silt-clay soils as prime building materials. There are several programs and opportunities for individuals, groups, families, and companies to get involved during and beyond the S.O.S Eco-Show. Among the long list of possibilities, are workshops, volunteer options, eco-tours, sponsorships, partnerships, memberships, and apprenticeships. For more information regarding any of these topics, please contact James Schierman at 509.648.3272 or 509.648.3707.
