It's the ultimate comedy challenge. The morning of the show, comedians are given a topic and have a scant twelve hours to write a brand-new routine to be performed that night. Works out to about an hour a joke. To put that in perspective, it's taken me three solid days just to write this paragraph.
Pressure, you say? The word is "incentive."
For you see, in addition to the creative challenge, we've added the element of competition. The comics are divided into teams to compete head-to-head on their assigned topics. The object is to get the biggest possible laughs and, more importantly, completely embarrass your opponent. The winner ... is the audience.
The performance starts at 8 p.m., but for the comics it's a daylong battle.
