Trauma, contagious disease, sickening pollution, toxic run-off, catastrophic disasters, impoverishing illness. Six health local care leaders come together in a rare gathering, to talk with us about these Island issues. Come listen to what they have to say and ask your questions. During the standing reception you can meet and talk with these medical leaders, in person. Coordinated emergency health care and prevention doesn't just happen. Especially on an Island. The better informed you are, the more able you'll be to help your family when the need arises.
Babies, emergencies, longterm diseases, special needs, catastrophic disasters: are we ready, are we preventative?
Our Co-Planners: This event is being planned in coordination with Chapple Langemack, Adult Programming Coordinator for Kitsap Regional Library and Victoria Irwin, Bookseller/Events Coordinator at Eagle Harbor Books.
During September and October, Kitsap Regional Library will be offering a series of book groups and reading programs across Kitsap focused on the book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. Scientists know her as HeLa, a poor Southern tobacco farmer whose cells were taken without her knowledge to help scientists develop some of the most important tools in medicine: a polio vaccine, secrets of viruses, cancer, vitro fertilizing, cloning, and gene mapping.
