Course: Forage & Pasture Management
This 7-week course will be held on Wednesday evenings, 6-9 pm. First class is on February 22. The 7th class is on April 12. (We will skip March 8th).

This is a very practical course on forages, grazing, pasture, hay, and silage! Well cover plant growth, grazing techniques, nutritional value, storage, fencing, and much more.

You will learn to identify different grasses and legumes, read soil tests, and select and use fertilizers. Topics also include new forage varieties, pasture renovation, intensive grazing, weed control, economic tips, and more. We will also hold review sessions and take field trips.

This course is open to all producers -- beef cattle, sheep, goats, horses, alpacas, dairy -- beginner or veteran graziers. Also this course is open to seed industry personnel, feed suppliers, veterinarians, anyone interested in forages.

Advanced registrations only. Space is limited!

Note for DCFC members: The first 10 DCFC members who register will receive a $20.00 rebate! (1 rebate per ranch. Rebate form will be given in class).

Note for Veterinarians: This course qualifies for Veterinary Continuing Education units (CEs).

The Instructor is Woody Lane, Ph.D.:
Livestock nutritionist & forage specialist from Roseburg, Oregon. Has taught many popular forage and nutrition workshops in Oregon & around the US and Canada. Has a Ph.D. in livestock nutrition from Cornell University. Is the current President of the Oregon Forage & Grassland Council. In the 1980s was the Beef Cattle & Sheep Extension Specialist for the University of Wisconsin. Has run a consulting business in Oregon since 1990 for giving advice and providing education to ranchers across US.
