Circuit Bending: 101 with Modified Toy Orchestra ft. Coppe' (presented by Bit-Phalanx)
On Saturday 22nd September, the inimitable Modified Toy Orchestra will be hosting a series of intimate workshops at the Alchemea Audio Engineering College in Islington, North London entitled 'Circuit Bending: 101', to teach budding producers and fellow Electronic Music enthusiasts the art of turning classic children's toys and gadgets into one of a kind musical instruments through the delicate art of Circuit Bending.

Originally the brain-child of esteemed producer, musician and sound-artist Brian Duffy, the Orchestra's colourful career has seen them host a variety of masterclasses and seminars on the art of their work all over the world, but this will be their debut public workshop in the UK.

Brian and the Orchestra are holding this workshop after being especially invited by Japanese musician and Electronic recording artist, Coppe', to help celebrate of the launch of her 2012 UK tour with a series of unique events.

Often described as "The legendary Godmother of Japanese Electronica" or "The lost daughter of Björk & Aphex Twin", Coppe' is one of Japan's most pioneering and respected vocalists, producers and artists in modern Electronic music. Once one of Japan's first ever Music Television VJs and leading Radio DJs, Coppe' has been spearheading her own brand of Electronica since 1995 after founding her own 'Mango + Sweetrice Records', releasing over 14 albums and collaborating with everyone from Plaid, DJ Vadim, Atom, The Orb, Red Snapper, Sutekh, Nikakoi, Nobukazu Takemura, Shitmat and many, many more.

To celebrate the release of her 14th album 'Rays', Coppe' has teamed up with UK Electronica label Bit-Phalanx to tour the UK this September & October, and will be hosting a series of unique events such as 'Circuit Bending: 101' with many other very special guest artists along the way to ensure a tour to remember.

Taking place at the Alchemea Music College in Islington, North London, these 90 minute workshops will offer a unique insight into one of electronic music's quirkiest and most idiosyncratic off-springs, and give you the rare opportunity to roll up your sleeves, join in destroying some old children's toys and rebuilding them into bespoke musical instruments, and the chance to ask all your burning music technology questions to Brian and the Orchestra. In addition to this, Coppe' will be taking part throughout and bringing her own unique gadgets and gizmo's all the way from Tokyo, as well as performing an exclusive, intimate live set for all guests.

A truly unique event & opportunity for budding producers and electronic enthusiasts alike.

A NOTE FROM BRIAN AND THE ORCHESTRA: You are warmly encouraged to bring a toy along with you to destroy and resurrect as a bespoke instrument all of your very own. So, please do bring something along to play with :)
