Here is the schedule for the two-day event. Visit illinoiswine.com for further details.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24 Wine Marketing Educational Session Paul Wagner, Balzac Communications (1-4 pm) Winter Wine Festival (7-10 pm)
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25 Educational Sessions Enology, Viticulture, and Marketing (morning and afternoon) Trade Show Annual Awards Banquet (evening)
FRIDAY MARKETING SESSION We will be kicking off the event this year with a very special session on wine marketing, featuring internationally-recognized wine marketing guru Paul Wagner! Paul is the President of Balzac Communications, an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America, and author of Wine Marketing and Sales: Success Strategies for a Saturated Market. This book, originally published in 2007, has won many awards, including the Gourmand International Award for wine writing for professionals. Paul is also a regularly-featured columnist for Practical Vineyard and Winery Management, and also co-hosts a podcast called Bottle Talk. Paul is going to run a short course (1-4PM) Friday afternoon detailing the most important aspects of running a successful business, and will reveal successful strategies for marketing your vineyard and winery. This interactive session will allow time to workshop your own ideas, and attendees will leave with new tools to help your businesses thrive.
SATURDAY EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS Additionally there will be a wide range of timely enology, viticulture, and marketing topics available during the Saturday educational sessions. These sessions are not yet complete, but all signs point to another great lineup, featuring top-tier speakers covering a broad, but critical, range of information.
Significant time and effort will be devoted to encouraging dialogue among the IGGVA membership. Each region has its own unique set of challenges, and we would like the conference to serve as a means to both identify those challenges and then collaborate on ways to collectively overcome them.
TRADE SHOW Were also working on expanding the trade show this year, adding several new vendors featuring cutting-edge products and technologies which should be of real value. As always, we hope that youll hold off a little on your 2017 ordering of winery and vineyard supplies until the conference to help show the vendors the value of attending our state event.
WINTER WINE FESTIVAL & ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET Dont forget to have a little fun, too! Well have plenty of entertaining after-hours activities to round things out, including Fridays Winter Wine Festival, and Saturdays Annual Awards Banquet!
Although we prefer that you register online, a registration form will be available for you to download, print and send in on http://illinoiswine.com beginning January 15.
Thanks again for continuing to support the IGGVA annual conference! We believe it will be a great experience for all!
