Miami Dade College's The Koubek Center presents: Plena Es, Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena!

Dance Party in the garden featuring a live band, DJ'ed after party,dance instruction,specialty food, cocktail vendors & more.

Founded by Pierre Ramos in 2004, Plena Es plays the high-energy Caribbean dance music that is a touchstone for Puerto Rican identity. Bomba is the music created by West African slaves on Puerto Rico's sugar plantations, and Plena mixed bomba with indigenous Taíno music and jibaro music of the island's mountain farmers. Plena focuses on the story sung by a lead singer and chorus, backed by the rhythm of hand drums. Plena Es offers up both styles with its own Miami twist.


8:00pm: Pre-concert dance lesson
8:30pm: DJ set
9:00pm: Plena Es performance

El Koubek Center del Miami Dade College presenta: Plena Es

Una serie mensual de conciertos y fiestas de baile,
con grupos de música en vivo y DJ, clases de baile,
comidas tipicas, cócteles y mucho más.

Fundada por Pierre Ramos en 2004, Plena Es, reproduce con brillante energía la música de baile del Caribe que es una piedra de toque para la identidad Puertorriqueña. Bomba es la música creada desde la época de las plantaciones de azúcar por los esclavos de África Occidental en Puerto Rico. El grupo Plena Es ha mezclado bomba con la música y sonidos indígenas de los Taínos y jíbaros.  Plena Es se enfoca en la historia contada por el cantante y su coro, respaldada por el ritmo de tambores de mano. Plena Es ofrece ambos estilos con su propio toque de Miami.

9:00pm: Presentación de Plena Es
