Resonance Live! at Rhythmix Cultural Works / Nov.17th 2012 at 8pm
Resonance Jazz, a one-of-a-kind Bay Area jazz octet, performs at Rhythmix Cultural Works for an 8pm concert on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Alameda, California.
For this concert "Women Up Front", Resonance Jazz Ensemble showcases a few of their female band members playing "up front" (rather than as typical background players ) marrying the sounds of their unusual jazz orchestration that includes strings and vocals. Performances offer a rich composite of original standards by Steve McQuarry, Bandleader and creative arrangements of jazz standards, from Duke Ellington to George Gershwin, and Keith Jarrett.
This relatively new Bay Area group hails members bringing a seasoned history of performing with legendary artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Louie Bellson, Clare Fischer, Dave Anderson Quartet, Terrence Brewer, Joe Lovano, Jethro Tull, Oakland Jazz Choir, Mingus Amungus, Gloria Estefan, as well as the Marin and Berkeley Symphonies, Woodminster Theatre Orchestra, and the California Pops Orchestra.
