Viola and Piano Recital
Taija Warbelow, viola and Eric Tran, pianist-composer, perform a full recital, Saturday October 29, 2016@7:30PM, Piedmont Center for the Arts, Piedmont, CA. They perform Schumann Fairy-Tale Pictures, Brahms Sonata in E-flat Major, pieces by Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski, and a world premiere by Tran.
Taija Warbelow, originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, has a long history in chamber music. At the age of 5, she was placed in her first quartet which ended up staying together for 11 years as Quartetto Polare. She has participated in many summer festivals including the Encore School for Strings, the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival, the Moritzburg Festival Academy, and the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival where she has been a returning guest artist. She studied at the Juilliard Pre-College with Toby Appel and at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Jodi Levitz.
Eric Tran, a Piedmont native, is known for his friendly stage manner, thoughtful programming, and bold risk-taking. He has appeared in music festivals such as PianoTexas, Aspen, as well as festivals in Europe. His principal studies were with pianists Sharon Mann, Thomas Schultz, and composer Jaroslaw Kapuscinski. He is a graduate of Stanford University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
