How does language relate to the visual and vice versa? Well use this broad question as our point of departure in this poetry workshop - and focus our attention on painting/drawing and the moving image. In this series of classes, we'll read and discuss selected excerpts and poems, view and discuss examples of visual art (two-dimensional work as well as the moving image), generate new work, revise, and discuss process. We'll consider how visual prompts can serve as catalysts for language as well as explore our individual use of imagery in poems. There will be reading and writing homework and students will be encouraged to bring in new and revised work week to week.
About the Instructor:
Eleanor Eichenbaum is a writer with an interdisciplinary composing practice. She holds a two graduate degrees; in Architectural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and in Literature from the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg.
