Description
The Metropolis Ensemble, led by Artistic Director Andrew Cyr, presents the World Premiere performances of ETUDES for piano by Ryan Francis (b.1981), in tandem with etudes from Ligeti, Bolcom, Chopin, Debussy, and Liszt, as performed by three outstanding young pianists, Vicky Chow, Michael Shinn, and Daniel Spiegal.

Composer Ryan Francis will briefly introduce each pair of etudes and speak about his composition processes and points of inspiration as well as their counterparts by Chopin, Liszt, Ligeti, and Bolcom.  Ryan's Etudes serve as the musical launching pads for his new Piano Concerto, which will be premiered by the Metropolis Ensemble April 10, 2008 at The Times Center.  Please visit our website for more details.

Wine reception and tasting sponsored by SIMI Winery.  Included with ticket purchase is a free pass to tour the exhibits of the Chelsea Art Museum.

This special concert is a preview of the World Premiere of his Piano Concerto, co-commissioned by the Jerome Foundation and the Metropolis Ensemble.
