Teada is totally sold out at the Burren, BUT they have two other appearances in the area that you should definitely take advantage of. Newburyport, GREAT venue, March 10th. Check it out! And then, on March 11th, at the Blackstone River Theater, an amazing venue. Search under each. And go!! If you would like to be informed in advance for future Burren Backroom events like this (most sell out quickly), send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org. We will put you on the list.

Teada
Event Description:

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the return of this traditional Irish band with a truly international audience!

Téada is a traditional band with a truly worldwide reach. In addition to their appearance on our Belleville Stage in March 2012, Téada has appeared as a frequent headliner at major music festivals throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa, Russia, The Middle East and Australia. Highlights include a 30,000-capacity stadium concert in Brittany, along with performances at Penang World Music Festival in Malaysia, Edmonton Folk Festival in Canada, Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe, and an extensive 7-week tour of Japan / Taiwan in 2014 playing to audiences of 40,000 people.

Continuing to grow in vision, the band received a Yeats 2015 WDC Funding Award for a show production celebrating the Sligo-inspired poetry of W.B. Yeats. Téadas latest addition to the line-up is legendary West Kerry singer and accordionist Séamus Begley, winner of 2013 TG4 Traditional Singer of the Year.

TEADA!  Yesss.... Teada is just a GREAT band!   Simple as that.  They have been around for quite a while and have recorded several albums.  A few years ago, they were with us for our St. Pats show at Sanders and New Bedford and really wowed the audiences.  Top notch individual players who come together seamlessly.

Seamus was originally scheduled for the concert but has had to cancel due to a touring conflict.  However, Méabh Begley, Seamus' wonderful daughter and beautiful singer will in fact be with them.

This promises to be again, a great night.
Check out their sound here....

Aisling Gheal (Bright Vision), is a group of young musicians based in and around Boston, that all met through music classes held in Brighton by the local Comhaltas branch, The Reynolds-Hanafin-Cooley Branch. They have been playing together for the last number of years, performing locally and competing at Fleadhanna (music festivals) here in the US and in Ireland.

The group are delighted to be joined for this evenings performance by two of Bostons most exciting and innovative young accompanists in Boston at the moment  Conor Hearn on guitar, from Silver Spring in Maryland; and Mairi Chaimbeul on harp, from the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

The Burren Backroom series is now well established and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music.  As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.

Tickets are $32 in advance, with a $5 discount for WGBH Members.  If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.

Seating is VERY limited so get your tickets today!
