18th October - Intro to Bicycle Maintenance
This is an introduction into bicycle maintenance, we will be looking at how to check a bike is safe and look at general set up to make sure your bike is comfortable for you. We will look at useful basic tools and spares, how to clean and lubricate different parts of the bike, how to adjust brakes and replace pads, replace cables, index gears, and repair punctures.
The course will last for 4 hours, it is in a bicycle workshop with all the tools available, and parts to buy if needed, the course will be led by a qualified cycle maintenance tutor (CTC Tutor, City & Guilds Level 2 Mechanic).
We find the most benefit is gained if you work on your own bike during the lesson, so please bring your own bike to the session. If this is not possible then we will lend you a bike for the duration of the course that is as similar to your own bike as possible.
The cost is £20 per person, and we need a minimum number of participants to run the course. We will confirm 7 days before the event that the course is going ahead, we reserve the right to cancel the event if there are not enough attendees - in this case you will be refunded or given a place on the next course.
After this point, if you are no longer able to attend unfortunately you can only get a refund if we or you are able to fill your place with someone else.
Access: the workshop is wheelchair accessible but the toilet is up one flight of stairs. There is free car parking outside the workshop.
