Don Giovanni
Not many comedies begin with cold-blooded murder, but opera has never relied on the expected. The title character of Mozarts Don Giovanni (aka Don Juan) has become a synonym for player from his first literary appearances in the 14th Century. Curiouser still, we meet our Don on a very unusual day: a day of foiled sexual conquests, a day of murder his last day on earth.
Fast forward to the 21st Century where youll find our Don. The omnisexual bad boy isnt completely heartless (love the one youre with?) he simply has an appreciation for beauty of all forms. And the cast is anything but sad and boring this gender-bending interpretation of a classic is hilarious, at times provocative, and full of ecstasy.
