Emerald Sanctuary Belly Dance Retreat
Emerald Sanctuary Belly Dance Retreat is an annual belly dance retreat in the high desert of Eastern Washington, usually held the last weekend of August (before Labor Day). Regional and local instructors offer an exciting range of workshops for the beginner to the seasoned dancer. Two haflas give everyone the opportunity to perform. We also offer shopping with tempting vendors, hiking, swimming, and general relaxation!
The 9th annual Emerald Sanctuary Belly Dance Retreat will be held August 22-26, 2012. We encourage all dance styles and levels to attend. Emerald Sanctuary has and always will be an accepting and safe place to explore your dance.
NEW! This year we have added on an additional optional day! Wednesday Chill-Out. Come relax, hang out, decorate your cabin, and enjoy the landscape. Note that there are no workshops or vending on Wednesday.
The workshops are set up so you get a well-rounded experience from a variety of instructors. This year's instructors include Alimah, Delilah, Elizabeth Dennis, Erik Brown, The Fuzzy Monkeys, George Sadak, Habib, and Yasmin. Almost every year we have musicians attending the retreat and they are usually available and willing to play live music for your hafla performance.
The retreat is a laid-back and relaxing experience amongst new and old friends. Between workshops there is plenty of free time to shop with our vendors, explore the rugged and beautiful landscape, cool off with a swim in one of several lakes, or take a nap on the lawn.
The kitchen has always been a great place to hang out and socialize! Bring your own food and beverages that you can prepare in the commercial kitchen. And, we all clean up after ourselves. For accommodations you can choose between sleeping in an air-conditioned cabin or camping in the meadow with your own gear. Gender communal bathhouses are close to the cabins and meadow.
PLEASE NOTE! Vending spaces are limited and not guaranteed. If vending is full and you have chosen this option you will be reimbursed 100%.
