One of the greatest Broadway musicals ever written is a true show business story scored with unforgettable music by Jule Styne and the brilliant lyrics of Stephen Sondheim. Mama Rose is determined to fashion a successful stage career for her youngest daughter June. But after June elopes, Mama turns to her less talented daughter Louise who unexpectedly becomes burlesque's biggest star queen of the striptease, Gypsy Rose Lee!
