Gold medalists at choral festivals throughout Europe and recently named Estonia's 2015 Choir of the Year, the world-renowned Estonian National Opera Boys Choir is celebrating its 45th season with a North American tour. In additional to their regular duties participating in performances of the Estonian National Opera, the Boys Choir performs up to 40 independent concerts a year and undertakes international concert tours.
The Choir has frequently participated in illustrious festivals and international projects, most recently at the 1st International Boys & Mens Choral Festival in Hradec, Králové and Prague (2008), a concert tour of Greece (2010), Festival Europa Cantat Junior (2011), Estonian National Opera International Music Day Opera Gala in Helsinki and Tallinn (2011) and MustonenFest 2016 Tallinn - Tel Aviv (2016).
Appointed Artistic Director in 2001, Hirvo Surva has received world wide recognition, awards & honours and is also widely known for his appearance in the documentary film "The Singing Revolution". Also accompanying the choir and conductor is Estonian composer and pianist Andres Lemba.
The concert program will feature pieces by contemporary Estonian composers such as Cyrillus Kreek, Urmas Sisask, Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Raimond Valgre, Andres Lemba, Rudolf Tobias and more as well as classical works by G.F. Händell and Cesar Franck.
Admission is available at door (cash only).
