The House That Music Built
Join us in converging Durhams creative community with Durhams leading organization in safe and affordable housing solutions.
Habitat for Humanity of Durham is proud to announce the launch of a new event titled, The House That Music Built. The evening will feature music from NC artists; Nnenna Freelon, BJ Barham, Phil Cook & the Guitarheels and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig.
In addition to musical performances there will be storytelling and spoken word from local poets and Habitat homeowners centered around a theme of Home.
Held on Sunday, June 26th, 5pm at Hayti Heritage Center, the performances will be bookended by a reception complete with libations by Ponysaurus Brewery, food from some of your favorite local restaurants and a silent auction with repurposed doors from Habitat homes created by local artists.
In addition to the event itself, Habitat of Durham will be hosting a group from the Durham music community for a tour and build day the Saturday, ahead of the festival. The hope is to start developing lasting partnerships between these vibrant and dedicated communities.
The goal of this event is to raise enough funds to cover the purchase and rehabilitation of a home for a Durham homeowner, which is $80,000.
