Frankie Gavin (Caroline O'Shea and Lindsay Straw open)
Frankie Gavin was last with us at the series as founder/leader of the band De Dannan. Well, this time he returns solo but armed with what has become known as one of the biggest repertoires of traditional music in one man anywhere in the world. He also has a great store of stories, and is not shy about telling them!
This will be just one of those "special" nights you will remember forever. Bound to sell out rapidly, so don't delay.
Take a listen to this recently shot video of Frankie accompanied by Colom O'Caoimh.

Opening for Frankie will be Boston-based duo Lindsay Straw & Caroline OShea who play an exciting blend of traditional Irish tunes and songs. Lindsay, a native of Montana, plays bouzouki and guitar and is a singer of note. Caroline is from Milton, MA, and has played the flute and tin whistle since she was a child, competing at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil for four years in a row.
The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
Tickets are $23 in advance, with a $5 discount for WGBH Members. If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.
Seating is VERY limited and these events have been selling out, so get your tickets today!
