Garden Workshops for Families provide opportunities for families with children ages 4 to 12 to explore biology, garden practices, soil science, and water in the desert in an outdoor garden setting. Hands-on, independent exploration, multi-media art including clay, poems, songs, stories. Included in your fee is a healthy theme-based snack, and a fun information educational Take Home packet. Classes occur on Friday or Saturday morning classes from 10-Noon, or Saturday afternoon classes 1:00-3:00 p.m. Garden by the Seasons FALL Session September 16-October 29, 2016
Discover the Fall Garden with your child learn projects to do at home, such as planting bulbs & garlic, searching for seed shapes & sizes, making Prickly Pear dye & pie, learning about animals and plants in Winter, as always, making art in the garden. Class 1: Fall Practices Planting & Watering Class 2: Harvest Apples, Prickly Pears, Seeds Class 3: Fall for Pollinators & Native Plants Class 4: Preparing for Winter Cover & Keep
Class times are: Friday mornings, 10:00 am to Noon: September 16, September 30, October 14, October 28

All class participants must be accompanied by an adult. No more than two children may be registered per adult companion and no more than two adult companions may accompany any one child. Permission for attendance by siblings younger than 4 and older than 12 is made on a case-by-case basis with Learning Garden Coordinator. If you have a third child, please contact us for in house registration and payment of that fee of $72.00. Maximum class size is 12 children and their adult companions.
Cancellations made within seven days before the program are subject to forfeiture of the full payment. Cancellations made prior to seven days before the program are subject to a 50% handling fee. A waiting list will be maintained for each session that is full; no deposit is required. People on the waiting list will be notified in sequential order. Full refund will be given if the session is canceled by the Museum due to low enrollment.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
