Wasat Presents: An evening with Usama Canon, Brother Ali, Baraka Blue & Community Leaders
The Wasat Community is proud to welcome some of our teachers, leaders and inspirations on Friday, April 15th, 7:00PM at the Hillman City Collaboratory for a community gathering that will explore purposeful and balanced living, share some of our community's highlights and future aspirations

Usama Canon has studied and lived Islam for 20 years, previously serving as the Outreach Director and an Arabic Instructor at Zaytuna Institute, as well as a Muslim Chaplain for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Currently he's the Founding Director of Taleef Collective, a community based non-profit focused on assisting converts to Islam and creating healthy social and sacred spaces. He is also a spiritual advisor to the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), visiting Chicago monthly in this capacity.

Brother Ali is a highly respected Hip Hop artist, speaker and activist from Minneapolis, MN. His decade long resume includes six critically acclaimed albums, mentorships with Iconic Hip Hop legends Chuck D and Rakim and performances on late night talk shows with Conan O Brien and Jimmy Fallon. Hes been the subject of Al-Jazeera and NPR pieces and was a keynote speaker at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum.

Baraka Blue is a highly acclaimed rapper and poet hailing from Seattle and based in Oakland, California. He has performed all over North America as well as the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. He is highly decorated within the global artist community for his original synthesis of spoken word poetry with the tradition of mystical poets such as Rumi and Hafiz.
