Constrain & Construe
Dawn Copps presents an insular, interactive performance installation on Friday April 22nd, and Saturday April 23rd, 2016 7-9:30 pm At the Steinfeld Warehouse Community Arts Center: 101 W. 6th St, Tucson, AZ, 85701
Dawn and her twin sister, Kee Kopps perform a movement piece that is Butoh-inspired. Expect a communal cave-like happening, with audience blending into the installation. You the audience will enter the tactile, textural environ, not before some minor part of yourself is restrained (i.e. two fingers tied together) (if you wish). Thereupon you will be observe and take part peripherally in a ritual of constraint with the dancers. The installation is organic and mostly hanging. The dancers explore the theme of restraint/contsraint and how they affect one's expression of identity, emotionally, psychologically and physically. The intention is transmutation through intentionally applying restraints in order to bring one's own inner constraints to the surface. Snacks and drink will be served to close the piece.
