| Description |
Birth: its a miracle. A rite of passage. A natural part of life. But more than anything, birth is a business. Compelled to find answers after a disappointing birth experience with her first child, actress Ricki Lake recruits filmmaker Abby Epstein to examine and question the way American women have babies. The film interlaces intimate birth stories with surprising historical, political and scientific insights and shocking statistics about the current maternity care system. When director Epstein discovers she is pregnant during the making of the film, the journey becomes even more personal. Should most births be viewed as a natural life process, or should every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency?

| Notes |
The film screening will take place at 600 4th Street in West Sacramento. The location is right over the bridge from downtown and has plenty of parking!
One way of getting there is to take the I Street Bridge over the river, make the first left after the bridge (3rd Street), go down a few blocks to F St, make a right, go one more block and you are there! Or if you are coming from Tower bridge, make a right onto 3rd and a left onto F St.
Note: Seating is on folding chairs. Please feel free to bring a pillow or cushion to sit on! |
