AN EVENING WITH JOE BOB BRIGGS
Cinedelphia Film Festival presents AN EVENING WITH JOE BOB BRIGGS
Spend an evening with cult favorite TV host/author/film critic Joe Bob Briggs as he chats about a life spent on the outer fringes of acceptable cinema. Joe Bob's talk will be followed by a Q&A with audience members and a screening of THE WARRIORS as originally aired on TNT's MonsterVision.
Texas native Joe Bob Briggs began his career championing drive-in movies in the early 1980s as a writer for Texas Monthly and the Dallas Times Herald. His articles on cult and B-movie fare, which were often accompanied by humorous stories involving redneck friends and ex-wives, gave birth to his unique rating system (ex. 4 Dead Bodies, 1 Exploding Car, 1 Gunbattle, etc) that he carried over into his TV hosting career. Following a successful run with a one-man stage show, Joe Bob became host of The Movie Channel's late night Drive-In Theater, which eventually became the network's highest rated program and led to his beloved four-year run on TNT's MonsterVision. Joe Bobs non-hosting activities are numerous and diverse: two seasons as a commentator on The Daily Show, actor in several film and television programs, and contributing writer for everything from National Lampoon to Rolling Stone. Joe Bob continues to promote B-movies and alternative genre cinema today through lectures and film programming.
