Keri Johnsrud Quartet
Join jazz vocalist/composer Keri Johnsrud and her group for her St. Louis premier at the incredible performance space, The Chapel, on March 19th. The 90 minute concert will consist of performances of original music featured on the critically acclaimed album "This Side of Morning", along with new arrangements of jazz standards.
A little about the performers: Keri Johnsrud has been an important part of the Chicago vocal jazz scene for the past 15 years. With headlining appearances at top jazz venues across the country, including the historic Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, the Jazz Showcase and Churchill Grounds, Keri has built a strong reputation and following among peers and fans, alike. In addition to finding success with her own group, Johnsrud also lends her voice to the critically acclaimed (Downbeat Magazine Editor's Pick) jazz ensemble, Shawn Maxwell's Alliance.
Kevin Bales, who currently resides in Atlanta, GA, initially began his career at the University of North Florida where he performed, recorded, and toured with a number of monumental artists who had settled into that burgeoning North Florida jazz scene, such as Wynton Marsalis, Louie Bellson, Eddie Daniels, James Moody, Ben Tucker, Ira Sullivan, Sam Rivers, and Nat Adderley. In addition, Bales can be found on Motema recording artist Rene Marie's 2015 Grammy nominated album "I Wanna Be Evil: With Love to Ertha Kitt", with whom he toured for ten years.
