Taína Delamar is a Nuyorican (New York born of Puerto Rican descent) writer, poet, singer and actress.
A self-described writer since the age of 8, Taína was constantly observing. Her short stories as a child paved the way and she credits writing as her #1 love and the floodgate to the rest of her artistic abilities.
A consummate artist with an observant eye, a passion for her culture and an undying drive to showcase the social ills of a lopsided society, Taína's creativity continues to evolve. Always on a quest to reach individuals in less than fortunate circumstances, she draws from her own experiences and never runs out of hope or inspiration.
Through her work, she intends on changing people's lives, one piece of art at a time.
No stranger to the stage, Taina Delamar has performed at numerous venues including: The Nuyorican Poet's Café,
Katra, The Langston Hughes House, Shrine,
The Latino Poet's Society at The Cherry Lane Theater, The National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights at Temple University, The American Museum of Natural History, Princeton University, Hostos College, The New York Times and many more. She has also shared the stage with iconic poetic revolutionaries, The Last Poets and with Sixties/Seventies era Boogaloo singer, Joe Bataan.
From the moment she performed her poem "My Competition" for the first time, a piece offering insight into the growing pains and survival aspect from the perspective of a female of color in a poor, inner city environment, her artistic destiny has unfolded almost seamlessly and continues to blossom.
