Salkind Festival: Closing Concert 1812-1912-2012 "From Thalberg to Bergmann" - the final concert of the Festival will showcase music and composers with a connection to 1812-1912-2012 including 3 world premieres of commissioned works for 2012 Festival. Program: 1812: Thalberg - "Grand Duo on Bellini's Beatice di Tenda" (Firenze Duo) 1912: Paris - Ravel "Daphnis & Chloe" (Duo Turgeon) 1912: Paris - Stravinsky - "The Rite of Spring" (Anderson & Roe) 1912: a musical collage of composers born in 1912 Nancarrow -"Sonatina" (ZOFO Duet); Guastavino - "Bailecito" & Cage - "Experiences I" (Kharajanyan Duo); Francaix - "Huit Exotic Dances" (Duo Turgeon); 2012: Cables/Alessandrini - "Variations on 'Lullaby' by George Cables" Cables/Munson - "My Muse" (Angelo Duo); 2012: Bergmann - "Fantasy on themes from Rossini's "La Cenerentola" (Bergmann Duo).
The Milton and Peggy Salkind International Piano Duo Festival is the United States' first and foremost international music festival solely dedicated to the art of the piano duo. The 4th Salkind International Piano Duo Festival (July 5-7, 2012), will showcase performances by distinguished American and international artists at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The theme of the 2012 Salkind Festival will feature a "Parisian Fete" of piano duo music in Paris from 1870 to 1925. The Festival will also celebrate Debussy's 150th anniversary as well as a Closing Concert of music and composers with a connection to 1812, 1912 and 2012.
