A young woman faces down the French Revolution's Reign of Terror alongside an order of devout Carmelite nuns. dell'Arte Opera Ensemble offers Francis Poulenc's chillingly beautiful setting of the screenplay by Georges Bernanos (adapted from the novel "Song at the Scaffold" by Gertrude von le Fort) in French, with supertitles and orchestra. Featuring riveting debut performances by some of New York's most talented young singers are the hallmark of our ninth annual Standard Repertoire Project.
