Food for Thought Speaker Series
Grow It Green Morristown is partnering with the Foodshed Alliance to host a three-part speaker series highlighting key issues in local food, nutrition and environmental stewardship. There will be one talk per month, from January through March, each focusing on a separate topics impacting our food system. Each event will be held on the last Thursday of the month. Tickets are $10 per session.

January 28: Should We Worry About Water? Understanding Our Watershed Speaker: David Peifer, ANJEC
This session will review the current state of our water supply and examine how we, as consumers, might improve or protect it. Where does our local water come from? What is the state of water quality? What can people do to conserve and protect the water we do have.
February 25: Osh Squash B'Gosh A Childhood Nutrition Workshop Speakers: Farmer Shaun Ananko Grow It Green Morristown Janet Kopchinski, Pediatric Registered Dietition Be Well Morristown TBD
This session will be a workshop on childhood nutrition. What foods should your children eat? How much? How do you get your children to eat healthy, real food? Learn how to create a basic meal plan for your child.
March 31: Building a Resilient Food System in the Garden State Speakers Kendrya Close & , Executive Director, Foodshed Alliance
In the 2015 Locavore Index, a ranking of states' commitment to local food production, New Jersey ranked 39th out of the 50 states. Should something happen to disrupt our food supply chains, could New Jersey feed itself? How can we increase the number of NJ food-producing farms and strengthen the connection between food production, sustainable farming practices and the environment? Learn about the Regional Foodshed Resiliency Plan that addresses these issues and more.
