burns-work and Joy Prendergast
An evening of new work by choreographers Christian Burns and Joy Prendergast.
"listen" by Christian Burns is a celebration of music and dance. After having taught ballet class together for several years, the dialogue between choreographer Christian Burns and pianist Donald White began to inquire into the very nature of how we listen and how we move. Utilizing Bach's Preludes and Fugues #4 and 5, this work's stark juxtaposition between 17th c. music and 21st c. dance will ideally reveal insights into our human potential for listening and expression.
"Bells and Whistles" is a solo work choreographed and performed by Joy Prendergast. The piece explores visibility. It plays with the question of what it is to see and be seen and also what it means to hide and keep secret.
