Steven Moore and Friends
About the band: Steven Moore & Friends is a top-notch super-band of hand-picked, young, talented musicians from all around the US that perform various styles and genres in a unique, acoustic blend of (new)grass music. They are the new super pickers! Members include Steven Moore (banjo), Etienne Cremiuex (fiddle), James Seliga (mandolin), Andrew Conley (cello), Swanagan Ray (guitar), and Andrew Bonnis (bass and ukulele). All 20-24 years old, this band delivers a fantastic assortment of grass-roots based music (with a focus on newgrass) along with a combination of everything else! From note-for-note duets and harmonies to improvised leads, these musicians will perform both synchronized, tightly-arranged melodies as well as jam-session style arrangements. I've met a lot of musicians over the years and have always wanted to assemble a band of the best of them, and this is it a select bunch of guys that I chose individually. They are my dream band."
Just who are these guys? Steven Moore (from Bethesda, Ohio) is the 2008 National Bluegrass Banjo Champion (Winfield,KS). He is also the 2011 Rockygrass Banjo Champion (Lyons, CO). Steven is an artist for Ome Banjos. Steven is majoring in Biochemistry at Marietta College (Marietta, OH).
Etienne Cremieux (from Boston, MA) has studied under fiddle legends Casey Driessen and Darol Anger, as well as instructors from Etienne's studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world. Etienne currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where he has dedicated his lifestyle to playing the violin.
Swanagan Ray (from Ripley, WV) is the 2011 West Virginia State Flat-picking Champion (Vandalia - Charleston, WV). Swanagan is also an artist for Bob Thompson Guitars. Swanagan is majoring in Electrical Engineering at Ohio University (Athens, Ohio).
Andrew Conley (from Des Moines, Iowa) is an true pioneer of bluegrass cello. Andrew is sure to amaze audiences as he includes the cello into new cross- genres of grass-roots music.
Andrew Bonnis (from Cleveland, OH) is the "glue" of the band on the upright bass. A multi-instrumentalist, he also plays ukulele with the group. Andrew also sings strong, soulful leads for the group, introducting songs from all time eras and all musical genres to the group. He now lives in Boulder, CO. James Seliga (from Bellevue, OH) is the group's on-fire mandolinist with blazing leads and crazy rhythm chops. He is a music-talent scholar and Jazz Guitar Performance major at Bowling Green State University.
