Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra: Masterworks I Concert
BYSO's most advanced orchestra, the Youth Symphony, will perform Joseph Suk's Ein Märchen (Fairy Tale) Suite and Shostakovich's Festival Overture. A free pre-concert commentary on these works by classical radio host Steve Reeder will begin at 6:15 pm.
Josef Suk was a Bohemian composer who lived from 1874 to 1935. Though he wrote lively and enchanting music, he was perpetually overshadowed by his famous teacher, Antonín Dvořák. BYSO's 2015-16 concert theme is "Forgotten Voices," spotlighting composers such as Suk who have been shuffled to the sidelines of history for a variety of reasons.
