Bonnie D Stroir Bootcamp FOXES - VIC
Rolling Star Derby presents roller derby coach and skater extraordinaire, Bonnie D. Stroir - all the way from the USA. Bonnie is the founder of the San Diego Derby Dolls, was MVP for the San Diego Derby Dolls 2008, 2009, 2010, Highest Scoring Jammer Derby Dolls 2010, Battle On the Bank Tournament MVP 2009, 2011, and most recently was World Cup Champions, Team USA's Assistant Coach.
These one day camps will focus on blocking and jamming skills, strategy and footwork. Bonnie's approach to coaching sees her discuss the mental side of derby and life as well, giving participants a truly holistic experience, walking away with a diverse set of physical and mental tools to improve their game.
This is the FOXES camp. Skaters who are FOXES will fall under the following skater level description:
FOXES
BEGINNER
* May be newish to derby, but can skate and is safe.
* Has skated for approximately one year or less.
* Has (or can) pass the WFTDA minimum skating skills standards.
* Can execute hits, but more importantly, can take them.
NOTE: If you are a beginner skater who has not yet passed the WFTDA minimum skating skills standards, you will not be eligible to participate in the scrimmage at the end of the day - but we would love for you to help out as an NSO!
INTERMEDIATE
* Has passed the WFTDA minimum skating skills standards and scrimmages on a regular basis.
* Has 1 - 2 years skating experience.
* Has played in one or more home team games.
* If the league is very new, travel team skaters may fall into this category.
* If the league is from a smaller region of Victoria and/or has some 'sister' leagues with whom to skate, skaters may have had intra-league skating experience.
* Can execute and take hits.
