Joan Wilson Memorial Concert
Hogeye Music (the store) and Hogeye Folk Arts, Ltd. (us) are the love children of Evanston's Joan and Tyler Wilson, started in 1978 in partnership with Anne Hills and Jan Burda. Joan died last December. She was the driving force behind Hogeye Folk Arts for more than 20 years...and to honor her memory, Tyler has arranged for a joyful and music-filled remembrance of his loving wife and partner. It's what Joan would have wanted. Please join us for an evening-long celebration featuring many of the folk performers who have graced the Hogeye stage, and some who have not...but each one with rich stories to share of the woman who was, in many ways, their patron and muse. Consider bringing a plate of cookies to share; we'll brew coffee and tea. As we write this, we struggle to accommodate all of the friends who have offered to be a part of this memorial. We won't even try to list them. But if you know Joan, you understand the breadth of her connections to the folk music community. Prepare to come early and stay late. The date is Saturday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m; doors open at 6:00 p.m. The location is the Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston, 1490 Chicago Ave., adjacent to the Lake Street Church at Chicago Avenue and Grove Street. Admission is free, but if you would like to make a contribution at the door, the proceeds will be given to The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter. Joan, we miss you. Hear our voices on 3/24.
