| Description |
 "I'm funny because I'm in a lot of pain," says Nancy Beckett in the original one-woman show, Writing With Nancy. "Writing is a lot like life," Beckett says, asking, "How's your life going?" Through a series of songs, phone calls and realizations, Beckett tackles the blank page and exposes her life as a comedy writing teacher and the crisis that brought her there.
And what one-woman show would be complete without a posse? While the original material for Writing With Nancy was conceived by Beckett, she employs a talented cast, calling them her posse of writers. At times, they become Beckett, or she becomes them, through doubling and tripling of roles. The talented cast includes Liz Bell, Gillian Bellinger and Ashley Vinson. Writing With Nancy is directed by John Hildreth. Musical Director is Rebecca Pavlatos.
Writing With Nancy opens Friday, November 9th at Live Bait Theater, 3914 North Clark near Wrigley Field. The show runs Friday-Sunday at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays, through December 9th (with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend). Tickets are $20. CTA directions: take the Clark St. 22 bus or the Red Line to the Sheridan or Addison stops.
