Blue Tango Project Maria Volonte and Kevin Carrel Footer
Global Lounge presents internationally acclaimed Blue Tango Project featuring artists Maria Volonte and Kevin Carrel Footer to lure and mesmerize in an intimate performance for the first time in The Sapphire Room. A portion of ticket proceeds will support the families who lost their livelihood in the Boise International Market fire. A donation jar for these families will be passed during intermission.

Hailing from the colorful and gritty La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Blue Tango Project is a ground-breaking exploration of the emotional and musical crossroads where tango and the blues embrace. It is a collaboration between Argentine Latin Grammy nominee María Volonté and California harmonica player Kevin Carrel Footer.
This globe-trotting duo celebrates the deep spiritual bond that joins tango and the blues, as two musical genres born in desire and marginality, many times censored yet always resurgent and speaking directly to our hungry souls. When they play together, Maria's voice and guitar fill the stage with echoes of tango's forbidden pleasures while Kevin's harmonica whines with the lament of the solitary blues soul.
María Volonté is an Argentine singer and songwriter who is a Carlos Gardel Prize winner (Argentina's Grammy), a Latin Grammy nominee and member of the Tango Hall of Fame.
Kevin Carrel Footer (KCF) is an artist deeply inspired by the intense passions of tango and Buenos Aires. In words, images and music, he explores those twin passions in unexpected ways.
Paired with Blue Tango is a special performance of Portuguese Fado featuring Kristine Nunes, an energetic, versatile, and diverse singer. A classically trained soprano, Kristine brings passion to every performance. She has performed with Opera Idaho and the Latin and Portuguese group Rosa Dos Ventos. She has shared the stage with international Portuguese artist Jorge Ferreira and sung backup vocals for internationally renowned singer Josh Groban. On October 2, she will share the deeply inspirational tradition of Portuguese Fado music. This music reflects the soulful heritage of story telling and speaks of life, struggle and passion.
