Veteran journalist and critically acclaimed author Michele Weldon will share specific tips and tools on how to jump start your writing, polish work you have completed or brainstorm ideas for new work.

The three-hour seminar includes dynamic instruction, interactive prompts and an opportunity to engage with the author as well as other writers. You may also submit up to 10 pages of a manuscript for a full critique returned to you via email within 30 days. The workshop will address specifically prioritizing ideas; observation tools; writing description and action; story flow and organization; sentence and paragraph structure; time management; handling criticism and ways to share and publish your work.

"This workshop is about getting down to the business of making your work the best it can be in a supportive, creative space," Weldon said.

Weldon's recent memoir, Escape Points, won accolades from Kirkus, Booklist and other media. She taught journalism for 18 years on the undergraduate and graduate levels at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Her work appears in scores of outlets from New York Times, Chicago Tribune, the Guardian, CNN, Slate, Narratively and Los Angeles Times to More.com, Medium and Huffington Post. She has also competed as a live storyteller with The Moth and more.
