Comedy Against Cancer
Comedienne and SNL Original Cast alum, Gilda Radner, lost her fight with ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda's Club was established in her memory to be a source of support to anyone fighting cancer. With chapters all over the world now, Gilda's Club offers myriad support, educational, and social programs for those with cancer, their families, and those left bereft.
I (Liz!) and running the NYC Marathon to raise money for this incredible organization. We have all been touched by cancer one heartbreaking way or another, and I will be running in memory of my dear friend Mo, who lost her years-long battle in 2013, and my dad, who has been in remission since 2008.
What better way to celebrate our loved ones and the brilliant life of Gilda Radner, than with a night of comedy? I hope you'll come out and cheer on some awesome improv troupes kind enough to lend their talents to the cause:
Aboulia! Nox! and Sweater Kitten will be raising our spirits and hopefully some dough Wednesday, Sept. 23rd, at Studio 1469. Doors open at 7:30, and the funnies start at 8 and will wrap before 10 because it's a school night and because we don't want the neighbors to get mad! Come right at 7:30 for a bake sale, raffle tickets, and to mingle with funny people!
