Hauschka Bio
"What I'm doing is working with just the piano and trying to avoid use of any technical gear and producing electronic music" Hauschka Hauschka is Dusseldorf's very own prepared piano alchemist; Volker Bertelmann. Clamping wedges of leather, felt or rubber between the strings, he prepares the hammers with aluminum paper or rough films, weaving guitar strings into the piano's guts, or pasting them down with gaffers tape. The prepared piano blossoms into a machine, that generates rhythms and melody. The modifications create an array of rustling, drumming, shivering and scraping that is the piano, expanded. He comes to Boulder by Communikey's invitation after a dazzling performance at Mutek 2007.CMKY will host an intimate Sunday Chapel service where this composer will take the spotlight with nothing more than a piano, a tool-box and some tape.
Its impossible to stress the genuine love for music that's expressed here, there's no pretentiousness. This reminds you that someone, somewhere still cares. Utterly gorgeous and frankly unmissable...www.boomkat.com in regards to hauschka

Rafael Anton Irisarri Bio
Seattle resident, multi-instrumentalist, producer, label owner, and music publisher working closely with the Scandinavian techno scene. As a sound artist, Rafael combines rustling static, haunting piano melodies, beautiful slide guitar and glitchy synthesizer. His compositions range from electro-acoustic works that incorporate organic, electronic and non-conventional instruments to melancholic pieces that can be both epic and subdued. Dreamy textures float effortlessly and dissolve into one another leaving the listener basking in shimmering beauty.
