Simple Gifts: A Studio NPG Salon Concert starring Daphna Rahmil
In her show SIMPLE GIFTS, singer, violinist and award-winning songwriter DAPHNA RAHMIL draws you deep into her stories and songs about the bumpy road to joy. How do you celebrate a birthday that has too many candles? What can humans learn from the mating habits of ducks? Let the joy and wisdom of her music envelope you. This is a rare opportunity to see her on stage as a solo artist in an intimate, acoustic environment.

Her band includes Bruce Barley on guitar, Joel Wilson on upright bass, and Daphna on vocals and violin. Together they form a unique, all-string ensemble that perfectly complements Rahmil's original music. As a special treat, Bruce and Daphna will sing a duet or two!

DAPHNA RAHMIL is a Bay Area singer, violinist and award-winning songwriter. Daphna plays and sings in the acoustic and classical duo "Rahmil & Barley", and in the Birdcage Quintet banjo band. She is also the violinist in the klezmer band "The Klezmakers". In addition to delighting audiences with her own material, Daphna gives unique and moving renditions of other songs, from well-known to obscure. According to her fans, Daphna's music "touches the soul in places that rarely get touched." But not only fans are enthusiastic about her. She has also received attention from professional organizations in several states. Winner, Song of the Year 2000, West Coast Songwriters Association; Finalist, Texas Wildflower Songwriters competition 2000;  Finalist, Vermont  Solarfest Songwriting Contest 2004. Winner in Category,  West Coast Songwriters Association International Song Contest 2004. Her song "Beyond the Sky" resides in Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Israel.

"Edith Piaf meets Joni Mitchell for the first time." --Paul Wagner, Music Career Consultant

"Boy, can she wrap her voice around a song!"- Dave Stafford, Radio Host, KKUP

"I love the stories and the lilting melodies that go with them" Brad Kava, San Jose Mercury News
