Howard Pollack - George Gershwin: His Life and Work
"Who could ask for anything more?" Howard Pollack's new work, GEORGE GERSHWIN: HIS LIFE AND WORK, has been praised as one of the best musical biographies yet. A University of Houston professor, Pollack presents a scholarly, yet entertaining look at one of America's most celebrated composers. Pollack draws from a treasure trove of manuscripts, letters, interviews, books and articles, recordings and film, and even a large cache of Gershwin scores discovered in 1982 in a Warner Brothers warehouse. Along with Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, and Cole Porter, George Gershwin created the memorable soundtrack for the Golden Age of Hollywood. Enjoy the stories, as well as the music, as Pollack offers a lively program of conversation and live piano performance.
