Crossroads Ensemble - Saturday, November 3, 2007 @ 8:00 PM
Jewish Community Center Houston, TX
Award-winning instrumentalists Juancho Herrera of Caracas and Mattan Klein of Jerusalem were born over 6000 miles apart. Their roads crossed in the U.S.A. where their musical and cultural backgrounds have created the foundation for one of the most exquisite world-music collaborations in North America. Their admiration for each other's musical tradition and rich religious culture brought together these two busy composers and performers to create a true world-music cross-over project, which fuses Latin, Jewish, Brazilian, Ladino, Jazz, and Funk elements all the while preserving the innovative voices they both carry as representatives of their nations. Joined by parisian Bassist Ben Zwerin, Swiss-born percussionist Mathias Junzli, keyboardist Pablo Vergara from Chile, and singer-songwriter Anath, Crossroads Ensemble will mesmerize the audience with its creative and inspirational sounds and rhythms.
