A View from the Bridge, by Arthur Miller, is set in 1950s America, in Redhook, an Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. The main character in the story is Eddie Carbone, an Italian American longshoreman, who lives with his wife, Beatrice and his orphaned niece, Catherine. When Beatrice's Italian cousins, illegal immigrants, arrive to stay, hoping to leave behind hunger and unemployment for a better life in America, the Carbone family's life changes forever. Their loves and their loyalties are tested - and tragedy results.
Playwright, Arthur Miller said that he heard the basic account that developed into the plot of A View from the Bridge from a longshoreman, who related it to him as a true story. This is an intensely absorbing drama, sure of itself every step of the way. It makes no false moves, wastes no time and has the beauty that comes from directness and simplicity.
This performance will be held in the McLean High School Black Box theater, with seating limited to 75 seats per night.
