Gigs4Good for Team Up: Drew Grow & TPW's, Lower Lights Burning, Chris Cunningham
Come and celebrate the end of another great year with Team Up for Nonprofits. Portland's Drew Grow & The Pastor's Wives, Shelton's Lower Lights Burning and Ravenna Woods' Chris Cunningham are all coming together to perform a very special Gigs4Good benefit for Team Up at The Tractor on Dec 15th. The second annual Gigs4Good for Team Up benefit is an opportunity to see some great music while supporting a 501(c)3 organization that works tirelessly to support other great nonprofits in our community.
Team Up for Nonprofits mission is to build capacity for nonprofit organizations by cultivating a new generation of engaged supporters through the power of music and social media. Our Gigs4Good benefits raise funds and awareness for the nonprofits we partner with and provide a fun and accessible opportunity for people to support organizations making a difference. This benefit will raise vital funds that we will use to grow our Gigs4Good program in 2012. We have at least four Gigs4Good benefits planned that will support some of our community's best nonprofit organizations. Our goal in 2012 is to move from a 100% volunteer organization to having a paid employee, resulting in bigger and better events that raise more funds and awareness for the nonprofits we partner with. Your support with this event is crucial to making that a reality!
With Team Up you buy the tickets, we bring the music, nonprofits get the money!
Drew Grow & The Pastor's Wives: Across the globe, there are hundreds of young men and women who have taken up acoustic guitars, inspired by the grand folk and country tradition, and set about put their sleeve-worn hearts into musical form. But the result is often feather light and wispy and all too easily forgotten amid the din of the modern age. Not so with the music of Drew Grow and the Pastors Wives. The music on the band's self-titled LP shares the influence of many current indie artists, but carries with much more meat and gristle to chew on. It feels like it was molded after a long life of ups and downs, all set a soundtrack of the curlicued songwriting of Bob Dylan, the drowsy despair of Bill Callahan/Smog, and a thick stack of dusty Motown and Stax 45s.
Lower Lights Burning: is the Seattle music scene's three-piece indie/folk-rock band. Being from the evergreen-shrouded peninsula, their music and lyrics reflect the beauty and change of the place they call home.
Chris Cunningham is the voice behind popular Seattle band Ravenna Woods. For those fortunate enough to have heard his solo material you will know that Chris's talent is on full display in this more stripped down setting. It will be worth getting to the show early to catch his whole set starting at 8pm.
