Karan Casey and John Doyle
Karan Casey and John Doyle first came to international prominence as founding members and the heart and soul of the influential Irish/Irish American band Solas, which won NAIRD awards for their first three albums and a Grammy nomination. Five critically acclaimed CDs into her solo career, Casey is widely regarded as one of Ireland's greatest singers. Twice voted 'Best Female Traditional/Folk Artist' by Irish Music Magazine readers, the Wall Street Journal hailed her as 'One of hte true glories of Irish music today' and the Associated Press raved Karan has 'A voice so beautiful it's almost impossible to avoid falling under her spell.' A Grammy nominee for one of his triumphant triumvirate of albums with fiddler Liz Carroll, Doyle has been described in the Irish herald as 'If not the finest, certainly the most identifiable guitar player in Irish music' and in Irish Music News as 'A brilliant singer of Irish folk.' In addition to three superb solo recordings, John has shared the studio and/or stage with a vast array of artists, including Joan Baez, Eileen Ivers, Tim O'Brien, Frank McCourt and Kate Rusby.
