89.3 The Current and Minnesota School Of Business are proud to sponsor the 2011 Celebrate Women In Music panel discussion and concert hosted by Current DJ Barb Abney featuring special musical guests Alison Scott, Holly Newsom (of Zoo Animal), Desdamona and Pink Mink.
Guest panelists include Sonia Grover (First Avenue), Christy Hunt & Arzu Gokcen (Von Bondies, Pink Mink, Selby Tigers), Kim King (The Fine Line), Maggie Macpherson (fmr Booker Uptown Bar, Manager), Holly Newsom (Zoo Animal, Amsterdam Bar and Hall), Heather Ross (aka Desdamona), Alison Scott (Nat'l touring artist), and Andrea Swensson (Music Editor, City Pages)
The evening will kick off at 6:15pm with a special musical performance by Alison Scott and her band. Her newest release, "Chinese Whispers" has just been picked up for national distribution and was named one of the year's ten best by the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
From 7-8pm we'll have a panel discussion where audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions directly to some of the most influential women in the Twin Cities entertainment scene.
Then at 8pm we'll hear special sets from Holly Newsom, Desdamona and round the night off with Pink Mink.
Anyone who is at all interested in the inner workings of the music business, this is your opportunity to ask questions, be heard and network.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door.
